Partial phases of the solar eclipse of 1999 August 11 will be visible from northeastern North America, all of Europe, northern Africa and the western half of Asia (See: Map for 1999 August 11).
The following table lists times* and local circumstances** at maximum eclipse for a number of cities in North America and North Atlantic Ocean. Note that for all North American observers, the eclipse is already in progress at sunrise .
Cities are listed alphabetically by country first, then city name. (For the U.S., Canada and the U.K., cities are listed alphabetically by state, province or kingdom, respectively.) Click on a city of your choice and get a preview of how maximum eclipse will appear. Each eclipse GIF is only 11 kBytes in size, so access time should be fast!
** Mag. = Eclipse Magnitude or fraction of Sun's diameter eclipsed by the Moon.
